Freedom for Reverend Samson

On 23 July, we received the incredible news that Reverend Dr Hkalam Samson was released by law enforcement authorities in Myanmar after nearly 500 days of imprisonment.

We covered this news in detail in our latest issue of Response with an article that tells the story of his earlier release and re-detention.

Given that the pastor has previously been released and taken back by the authorities, we are balancing our thanks with prayers for his lasting freedom.

We are also so grateful for all the ways you have prayed and campaigned for his release – thank you!

On Sunday 3 November, Christians around the world will come together to pray on the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP).

We're once again partnering with the Evangelical Alliance, Open Doors and Release International to bring you an evening of prayer for those who courageously follow Jesus, even in the most dangerous circumstances.

This year, CSW will be sharing about one of the most closed, isolated, and repressive states in the world: North Korea. Your questions will be answered live on the night, so make sure to submit them in advance using the link below.

Here's a quick summary of how you can get involved:

1) Sign up to join our online prayer gathering.

2) Submit your questions for the IDOP Q&A.

3) Book a speaker to mark IDOP with your church or organisation.

Keep an eye out for resources to create a prayerful space in your service, small group, or wherever you gather to pray.

Syria: 10 years on, why does it matter?

This year marked ten years since the Islamic State declared a caliphate in Syria and years of brutal conflict by a complex web of aggravators began.

The conflict resulted in one of the highest death counts of any recent war and the highest number of displaced persons in modern history.

Yet the world seems to be moving on.

Our blog explains why we must not forget.

Leave a legacy with CSW!

As someone who cares deeply about the cause of freedom of religion or belief, you could make a lasting difference by leaving a legacy donation.

By including CSW in your will, you’re extending your care and compassion far into the future – impacting the generations to come.

We’ve seen many breakthroughs over the last 45 years. Just under a year ago, we celebrated the release of human rights defender Nguyen Bac Truyen, who was wrongly imprisoned in Vietnam in 2018. Alongside others, we called for Truyen’s immediate and unconditional release, and we consistently raised his case in meetings and submissions at the UN and EU.

CSW has always worked on cases like this persistently, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, including many who are no longer with us, but who chose to remember CSW in their wills.

This work will continue far beyond our lifetimes, and that’s why a legacy from you will make a real difference.
