The crisis is escalating in Myanmar/Burma. It’s time to put a stop to it.

Two years on from the military coup, the human rights and humanitarian crisis in Myanmar/Burma has escalated in a horrifying way. 

While everyone in Myanmar is suffering, religious and ethnic minorities have been targeted with particular intensity. At least 132 religious buildings have been destroyed, and military offensives in predominantly Christian Kachin state have intensified in the last month. 

Further sanctions against the military are needed, cutting off the flows of arms and money that keep the regime afloat.  Write to the Foreign Secretary now and urge him to prohibit all supply of aviation fuel to the military.

The UK government has sanctioned two companies and two individuals involved in the supply of aviation fuel to the Myanmar military. But many more companies and individuals are implicated in the direct and indirect supply of aviation fuel, which is used in military air strikes on innocent people. 

It’s time to cut the lifeline to the military. It’s time to give a lifeline to the people.
